Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books I Almost Put Down But Didn't

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created at The Broke and the BookishThis week's Top Ten Tuesday is all about books I almost put down but didn't. I really hate not finishing books, but I have a bad habit of reading multiple books at once, so I tend to forget the ones that aren't as interesting.

1. The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

I can't explain what I disliked about this book specifically, since I read it four years ago, but I remember wanting to quit, but I kept going because I wanted to read the book before seeing the movie. I didn't even get to see the movie.

2. Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys

I had to read this for 20th Century British Lit and almost gave up because of the almost incomprehensible beginning. I knew it was on purpose, but it was still frustrating as a reader. I'm glad I continued, because it definitely became one of my favorite books.

3. The Host by Stephenie Meyer

I blame Twilight and my angry teenager phase for making me bias against this precious book.

4. Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff

I do love this book, but the opening was overly descriptive and I found my eyes glazing over the paragraphs describing the world. I picked it up a month later and ended up loving it.

5. Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children

Those pictures were really creepy. . .

6. Requiem by Lauren Oliver

I wish I could have not with the series, but I needed to know what happened.

7. City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

Long, tedious, slappable characters, cheesiness, you name it. I can't wait for the last book so I can be officially done with this series.

8. The Dark Unwinding by Sharon Cameron

I won this over a year ago in a writing contest on Figment, and I still haven't read past the first chapter.

9. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Another one I started last year and didn't finish. I haven't given up on it. I just need to get myself in the John Green mood.

10. Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

Another Clare book. This one I almost put down because I thought the characters sounded too similar to the one's in The Mortal Instruments. Mostly, Tessa=Clary and Will=Jace. I'm glad I continued because it turned out to be really good and the series is one of my favorites. It's a lot better than TMI.
