Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This week's Top Ten Tuesday is all about covers I'd frame as pieces of art. Well, it's more like Top Eight Tuesday.
I'll admit it. A lot of times, if I have no recommendations or prior knowledge, I'll buy books because they look good. What can I say? I'm, attracted to pretty things, and I like having an attractive bookshelf.
1. Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff
My favorite cover of all-time. I'd hang this over my bed and worship it everyday. Kudos to Jay Kristoff for getting such a badass cover. I wonder how many authors have wept in envy when they saw it.
2. Incarceron by Catherine Fisher
I love everything about the cover. The font, the leaves, the clockwork, and the key in the center. It's nice seeing a cover that actually relates to the book, instead of another pretty girl in a dress.
3. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
I love this cover. The overall simplicity is what gets me. It's not too intricate and I'm a suker for more flat styles.
4. Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling (New Edition)
Shoot me, but I've never understood the appeal of the original covers. I didn't like the designs or the colors that much. The new edition, on the other hand, is GLORIOUS.
5. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
Okay, I'm not sure if I would hang this because it's so creepy, but I love it anyway. I've never seen a cover that looks like it, and I love the old-timey, photograph feel it has.
6. Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige
Another simple cover that I like. The font for "Die" reminds me of an old school horror movie.
7. Prodigy by Marie Lu
I think this is the best cover in the series. I like that it's simple, with the symbol is the main focus. It has a very dystopian feel to it.
8. Tempest by Julie Cross
I love the covers where, if you took away the text, it'd be a solid piece of art.
