Blogging: Things That Make You Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs

Where would humanity be if we didn't have ridiculous pet peeves and ticks?

This post is only about blogging related one, though. Mine is about super freaking long blurbs. Whenever I go to goodreads to check out a books blurb, nothing drives me more insane than finding out that it's thirsty paragraphs long. So much scrolling.

I'm not even angry about having to read it or anything. No, I'm angry because they make my blockquotes look stupid.

The above makes me so upset, you don't even understand. It's even worse on my  ipad.

Aesthetically, I think readers should be able to see the cover, blurbs, and all that good stuff in one-two scrolls, depending on your device. When the blurb is super long, it just makes the design of the post look awkward, with the cover floating all the way at the top.

What's even worse is when it's a blurb that consists of 99% praise.

Author: Anahlynn Spiers
Published: Never/gonna/happen
Publisher: That Big One
Genres: YA, fantasy, romance, the usual

From new author Anahlynn Spiers comes a dashing tale of love, deceit, justice, and other super vague things.

New York Times bestselling author of Everything, John Green, likens Spiers debut novel to when Jesus rose for the second time. "It's one of those books you pick up and can't believe anyone could create something so ingenious. It wouldn't be a stretch to call Dangerously Defiant our modern-day Bible."

Big Name Publisher describes the experience they felt reading the Dangerously Defiant for the first time as, "Strangely exhilarating. It's a book that makes you reconsider every decision you've made in life."

"When I read the query for this, I couldn't believe my luck. This is the Mona Lisa of our generation. A book people will forever remember," said Spiers' agent.

"I sold my roommate's soul for an ARC and do not regret it one bit. This is a tale of the ages," Random Professional Reader

Upon stumbling across DD, many readers have professed that they've found a new purpose in life. "All of my friends were raving about this book," says Maddie, an 8-year-old with a disposition for petty theft. "So I stole it from the library. Worth it."

Since Dangerously Defiant's publication, library and bookstore theft has gone up 100%. "I can't even be mad when the author's encouraging our kids to read again." Library Owner

The Huffington Post calls it, "Theft for the Literate".

"I love you, Anah!!!!!!!!" Her Mom

In this futuristic tale, Min, a hardened street thief, lives in a world that has been ravaged by shadow-like monsters. It's up to her and a hot guy to figure out how to stop them and save the world.
Was that painful to read? 'Cause it was painful to write. Why do publishers do that? Not only do I not care about all of the endless praise your book is getting, but what information you do give me is vague as frack. They're making my blog post look ugly for no legitimate reason.

"But Anah, why don't you just add in some ellipses and shorten it?" Shut up. No one asked for your rational opinion.

So what about you?

Do you have any ridiculous pet peeves about blogging that drive you bonkers? Share them so we can be weird together and I don't look crazy all by myself.
